School Library System Council Bylaws
Purpose:
The purpose of this Council shall be to approve the
Plan of Service, monitor the implementation of the Plan of Service and to
provide advice to the staff of the Orleans/Niagara BOCES School Library System
on matters relating to policy and program.
Amendment of Bylaws:
The bylaws may be amended at any meeting of the Council
by a quorum of the members
providing that the agenda sent out two weeks prior to the meeting listed
the bylaws as a topic. If there is
objection to voting on the bylaws change at that meeting, then the vote will
be tabled until the following meeting.

GUIDELINES
1.
No more than two people from
any one district.
2.
Rotate district membership.
The three year terms will be rotated
so that approximately 2/3 of the Council will have served for at least one
year.
3.
No more than two consecutive
terms. This guideline will be disregarded if we are unsuccessful in filling
a vacancy.
4.
The Regulations of the Commissioner
will be adhered to.
5.
District
Any
unexpired term on the Council will be filled by someone from the same district
or organization, if possible.
The
SLS Director/Council Chair and one other member of the Council will serve
as the nominating committee to make nominations at the May meeting as to who
they would like BOCES to appoint as Council Members.
Members
that miss three consecutive meetings may be asked to resign from the Council.
