VDX Directions and Participants
The VDX system is the Western New York Library Resources Council virtual online catalog that you can use to locate and request items not in the SLS Union Catalog. Call the SLS if you would like more information on using VDX to request items. To use the virtual online catalog:
Click on VDX to access the system or use this link - http://www.wnylibraries.org/vdx/index.html .
Directions:
To see if an item is available in another library, click on BibSearch and follow the directions on the screen.
If you are a registered participant in VDX, click on Login and enter your username and password. Follow the directions on the screen. If you make a request, hit Select All to add the request to the Rota. Please write your school name in the New Note box.
Items borrowed will be sent to the SLS office to be forwarded to you and conversly, items should be returned to the SLS so they can be mailed back to the lending libraries. The SLS will check items in on the VDX and also mark them as returned so you do not need to handle the processing.
Participants:
This is a relatively new service and there will be more participants. The following libraries are currently using the VDX system: Buffalo and Erie County Public Library, Canisius College, James Pendergast Library in Olean, LCHIB Library Consortium of Health Institutions in Buffalo, Hilbert College, Medaille College, St. Bonaventure, Genesee Community College, Villa Maria and Orleans/Niagara BOCES SLS.
